Downtown Seattle, It’s My Home – Even in Tough Times

In reply to one of my the latest Facebook posts about dwelling downtown Seattle throughout the protests and pandemic, another person reported they would Hardly ever are living downtown Seattle. There is no infrastructure — grocery suppliers, dry cleaners, faculties etc to assist family members dwelling downtown.

I could not enable this slide by and mislead people not acquainted with downtown Seattle. Downtown Seattle, It’s My Home – Even in Tough Times

Individuals, of training course, like unique locations. I have lived on seven acres on the edge of a smaller city, in the heart of a city on a park and on an island, where my five youngsters walked 4 blocks to university – and to a ferry to catch a major league ballgame downtown, though in their early teens.

But downtown Seattle is a terrific place to are living.

I have a leading of the line grocery retail outlet six blocks away – I stroll to it. Yet another tier one grocer is opening two blocks away. If I want a little something faster, AmazonGo is throughout the street and Bartells, a significant drugstore ala Walgreens, is below me.

My dry cleaner is one block away – or my dry cleansing is picked up and shipped back, at no more charge, with all people else’s in my setting up.

Restaurants, espresso shops, procuring, theatre and the arts are all a shorter stroll away. A 10 moment stroll up to Capitol Hill opens up even additional.

Earth course healthcare is five blocks away. I stroll to all of my doctor’s appointments.

Working is terrific – up Fifth Avenue all-around the Seattle Heart, together the waterfront by way of the Sculpture Park, all-around Pioneer Sq. or by way of Volunteer Park or the Arboretum. My overall health club is one floor down.

Out of city visitors, company or private, remain in the heart of city where they, much too, can stroll out the doorway to get just about everywhere they want to go.

My five youngsters, all dwelling in Seattle, but a minor further more out, can get to my place in 10 or fifteen minutes.

Company meetings and the business are in blocks.

I stroll out the doorway and I am at the airport in 15 minutes by using Lyft, or 35 minutes by using light-weight rail.

Key league sporting activities are a 10 moment stroll.

I have arrive to enjoy life generally with no a motor vehicle though folks dwelling out of the city centre seem to generate just about everywhere, sitting at pink lights and in targeted traffic.

I enjoy the variety of the folks and their economic position. It’s opening my eyes to issues I did not respect.

We’ve strike a difficult time downtown. Seattle has in no way in its history seen something like the pandemic, the protests and the riots. No query downtown is unique than 4 months in the past – a lot of locations are, for nowadays.

But downtown Seattle can be a very nice place to are living – and I’ll confess I’m very pleased to call it residence.
