This free class will discuss the process and resources available for researching Native American ancestry. Speaker Mica Llerandi is an attorney for California Indian Legal Services and a member of the Navajo Nation. Her presentation will include:
- a brief history of Indian Relocations,
- a summary of the federal recognition as applied to tribes,
- a summary of the key terms and phrases,
- how to begin the process of researching ancestry,
- the resources for researching ancestry, and
- how Indian adoptees can file a petition to unseal birth records.
