Law Library Wins 2021 AALL Excellence in Community Engagement Award

We are honored to get the American Association of Legislation Libraries‘ Excellence in Community Engagement Award for 2021 for the written content we designed to inform the San Diego community about legal issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the legislation library closed in excess of fourteen months back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we knew that we necessary to guide our community. We made the decision one of the most beneficial things that we could do would be to produce resources that assisted our patrons navigate by the immediate improvements brought about by the pandemic. We identified fifteen prescient matters and designed the COVID-19 Lawful Concerns webpage. For the previous calendar year, we have worked to retain the details on all those web pages updated. To reach community members that might not be as familiar with the legislation library, we reached out to our community associates and supporters and arranged fourteen digital webinars that had been out there for free.

We had been elated to see our resources staying applied! They had been shared and reshared. We are continuing to offer free legal webinars and put up them on our YouTube Channel. And, we have even included the presentations to our on line catalog, so they will be everlasting resources for our patrons.

We are however updating the COVID-19 Lawful Concerns web pages, and we now have seventy-five webinars under our belt. Nevertheless, we are generally striving to adapt and improve. Whilst this previous calendar year has been very hard, we are happy that we had been capable to guide our community. Receiving this national recognition just reinforces our mission to make the legislation out there to you!
