Statement by President Biden on Russia’s Unprovoked and Unjustified Assault on Ukraine

The prayers of the whole world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they undergo an unprovoked and unjustified assault by Russian armed forces forces. President Putin has decided on a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic decline of daily life and human suffering. Russia by yourself is liable for the death and destruction this attack will carry, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The environment will keep Russia accountable.

I will be monitoring the situation from the White Residence this night and will continue on to get common updates from my countrywide stability team. Tomorrow, I will satisfy with my G7 counterparts in the early morning and then converse to the American men and women to announce the even more repercussions the United States and our Allies and companions will impose on Russia for this unnecessary act of aggression in opposition to Ukraine and world-wide peace and safety. We will also coordinate with our NATO Allies to make sure a strong, united reaction that deters any aggression versus the Alliance. Tonight, Jill and I are praying for the brave and happy persons of Ukraine.
